The capacity on our website is based on the optimal capacity for each teapot form design

  • Semi-handmade teapots are usually shipped within 3-7 days.
  • Fully-handmade teapots may take up to 7-15 days.

    Teapots of different capacities and 'Zisha' clays are suited for different types of tea. We generally recommend using one teapot for each type of tea based on the 'Zisha' clay, and selecting the appropriate teapot capacity according to the characteristics of the tea. The recommendations are as follows:

    Zisha Clay Tea Suggestions Remarks
    Zi Ni A full range of teas, especially dark fermented varieties, including black tea, dark tea, and ripe puerh. Zi ni has larger clay particles and a loose structure, often with a double-hole design for good airflow and ventilation. Ideal for dark, fermented teas, and helps the teapot develop beauty over time.
    Duan Ni Green tea, raw puerh, Tie Guan Yin, white tea, and other similar varieties. Duan Ni is a blend of Lv Ni and Zi Ni clays, with a light yellowish color. It’s better suited for lighter-colored teas, and using it for darker teas may cause color streaks, altering the teapot’s appearance.
    Lv Ni Puerh tea, lightly roasted oolong tea, semi-fermented teas, dark tea, and heavily fermented teas. Lv Ni has a fine texture with good elasticity and smooth, compact feel. The teapot’s color transforms over time, becoming jade-like, adding elegance and enhancing aroma retention during brewing.
    Zhu Ni High-aroma teas, such as oolong tea and strong-flavor Tie Guan Yin. Zhu ni has low sand content and high shrinkage, resulting in small teapots. It’s excellent at retaining the fragrance of high-aroma teas, enhancing the tea’s overall aromatic profile.
    Jiangpo Ni Oolong tea (raw tea, lightly roasted series), Tie Guan Yin (medium-roasted or heavily roasted series), Puerh tea. Jiangpo ni has large particles and a reddish-brown color, rich in iron. It has excellent heat retention properties, making the tea more full-bodied and robust with a rich fragrance during brewing.

    The name "Hanwa Zisha Teapot" is derived from the Han Dynasty's tileware, with the semi-circular shape of these tiles first appearing during the Western Han period. These tiles were not only used in architecture to cover rooftops but were also widely employed for their unique form and decorative qualities.

    Specifically, the design of the Hanwa Zisha Teapot was inspired by the roofing materials commonly found on ancient buildings during the Han Dynasty—Hanwa tiles. Made from clay, these tiles are slightly semi-circular in shape and have excellent waterproof properties. Purple clay artisans, drawing inspiration from the Hanwa tile, creatively applied this shape to teapot design, resulting in the distinctive appearance of the Hanwa teapot.

    The body of the Hanwa Zisha Teapot is wide at the top, narrowing towards the bottom, with a slight bulge in the middle, presenting a sense of fullness, tension, and elegance. This design evokes a sense of the weight and grandeur of ancient architecture.

    The lid design features a large, round cover with a gentle curve that fits snugly onto the body, showcasing excellent airtightness. In some versions, the lid’s irregular circular design at the mouth cleverly integrates practicality and artistry.

    The teapot's knob is a bridge-style shape, simple yet elegant, adding both beauty and functionality. Some designs include intricate patterns that reflect the perfect fusion of ancient culture and purple clay craftsmanship.

    The spout and handle are equally thoughtfully designed. The straight or double-curved spouts are of an appropriate length, allowing the water to flow smoothly and evenly, much like a gentle stream. The ear-shaped handle is rounded with a slight flattening, ensuring both comfort and style.

    The overall shape of the Hanwa teapot is ancient and refined, with smooth, natural lines that convey a sense of stability and grandeur.

    The wide mouth of the Hanwa teapot makes it easy to add tea leaves and clean the bottom of the pot. Among all purple clay teapot designs, the Hanwa teapot's water flow is considered one of the best.
