Yixing Teapot Use & Care Guide: Seasoning and Patina Maintenance

Use & Care Guide

Let your vessel grow with your tea time. A scientific approach to Zisha cultivation.

1. Seasoning: The "Warm Awakening" Protocol

DXY ZISHA advocates for a gradual, controlled temperature climb to purify mineral particles and activate the double-pore structure safely.

01

Cold Rinse

Rinse the teapot and lid under room-temperature purified water. Remove surface kiln dust. Never use soap or detergents.

02

Thermal Bath

Place the separated pot and lid in a clean basin. Submerge in 80°C (176°F) water for 20 minutes. This dilates pores and expels mineral residue.

03

Tea Fusion

Place tea leaves inside. Fill both pot and basin with boiling water. Let it cool naturally to saturate the clay with essential oils.

⚠️ Scientific Caution: Avoid the "Boiling Method". Violent turbulence can cause micro-fractures, and organic additives like tofu can lead to mold growth.

2. Brewing & "One Pot, One Tea" Rule

Zisha's unique "breathing" pores adsorb tea oils. To ensure flavor purity, dedicate one teapot to one tea category.

Tea Category Temp Ratio (Tea:Water) Recommended Clay
Green / White 80–85°C 1:50 / 1:40 Duanni / Lvni
Oolong (Fragrant) 95–100°C 1:30 Zhuni (High-Density)
Puerh / Dark Tea 100°C 1:25 Zini / Dicaoqing

Lustrous Patina

Develop naturally through regular use. Wipe the exterior with a clean cotton towel while the pot is warm to enhance its Wenrun character.

Storage Safety

Always air-dry completely (24-48h) with the lid off before storing. Avoid airless cabinets which may cause mold.

Troubleshooting Quick Fix

Stains: Use baking soda paste on stubborn marks; avoid chemical cleaners.

Mold: Clean with 100°C boiling water and sun-dry for 2 hours.

Spout Drip: Practice a swift, decisive "cutoff" motion when finishing a pour.
